New Ulm Medical Center welcomes Basel Khoury, MD
NEW ULM, Minn. 04/28/2009--New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) welcomes Basel Khoury, MD, to its internal medicine physician staff. He will be seeing patients at the clinic, as well as at the hospital. As an internal medicine specialist, Dr. Khoury will take turns seeing patients in the hospital along with the other internal medicine physicians and family medicine physicians who work as hospitalists. The hospitalist schedule rotates, so the same physician cares for inpatients for one week at a time.
Prior to joining NUMC, Dr. Khoury practiced internal medicine at Holzer Medical Center in Jackson, Ohio for three years. Dr. Khoury is originally from Syria and received his medical education at Damascus University Medical School, Syria. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. He is one of five brothers in his family – four of whom are physicians.
Dr. Khoury was drawn to internal medicine as a specialty. "I like to gather the symptoms and signs and determine the diagnosis," Khoury said. "Internal medicine is like putting puzzle pieces together with the medically complex patient."
He has a special interest in helping patients with medical conditions of the heart, lungs, kidney, and stomach. He has relocated to the New Ulm area.
New Ulm Medical Center is located at 1324 Fifth North Street. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 507-233-1011.
